Heylie Zona is an experienced crochet artist and educator. This four session (two weekend) course is designed to teach your littles the basics of crochet and help get them working on their own project at home!

DETAILS:

What Class is this?: This is a 4 session (2 weekends) camp for children to learn how to crochet. It will be led by instructor Haylie Zona.

Level of Experience Required: All levels of experience welcome. No prior knowledge of crochet is needed for this camp.

Cost: $40 - Four sessions broken into groups by age

  • Group A -Ages 10-13

  • Group B - Ages 14-17

  • Group A meets from 12-1pm on Saturday 07/27, Sunday 07/28, Saturday 08/03, Sunday 08/04

  • Group B meets from 2-3pm on Saturday 07/27, Sunday. 07/28, Saturday 08/03, Sunday 08/04

    What Should I Bring?: All materials will be provided. If you need adaptive equipment please let us know via email (shelby@littlebuttoncraft.com) and we’ll do what we can to help!

What to Anticipate: You’ll have a comfy seat or bench to sit on at a shared table. Instructor Haylie Zona will teach the group as well as provide one on one help as needed.

Parking: There is free parking along South Avenue, as well as on the side streets surrounding our block. There are also two lots for parking on South Ave. See our interactive parking map for more information.

LESSON PLAN

Day 1:

  • How to make a slip knot

  • How to chain stitch

  • How to single crochet into multiple rows

At the end of day 1, students should be able to single crochet a basic rectangle.

Day 2:

  • Recap

  • How to double crochet

  • Increasing and decreasing stitches in rows

At the end of day 2, students should be able to make a basic rectangle with either single or double crochet stitches, increase and decrease stitch counts, and accurately name these stitches.

Day 3:

  • Recap

  • How to make a “Magic Ring”

  • Working in rounds to make a sphere

At the end of day 3, students should know how to crochet a sphere using amigurumi techniques.

Day 4:

  • Recap

  • Puff stitches, picots, and slip stitches (oh my)

At the end of day 4, students should be able to crochet a simple doily.
