Michelle has been teaching science in the Rochester NY area since 2011. She majored in Geological Sciences and Adolescent Education at SUNY Geneseo, where she fell in love with rocks and the story they tell about the history of a region. After college, she missed studying rocks - so she combined her love of geology with her love of crafting and creativity to found Rochester Rock Shop! The Shop can be found at craft and vendor shows in the Rochester area and at Little Button Craft Co in the South Wedge. She uses rocks from in and around Rochester to decorate birdhouses and terracotta flowerpots. Recently, Michelle began creating terrariums using laboratory equipment in honor of famous women in the sciences. Each birdhouse and “rock pot” comes with a tag that describes the geological history of the rocks used in the design. The lab beaker terrariums come with a tag that describe the achievements of a famous female scientist.
Rochester Rock Shop will be hosting a Pop Up Shop on Saturday, July 6th, from 12-4pm
