March 2023 Featured Artist: Desiree Moore of Girls and Galaxies

Meet Denise Moore, the creator behind Girls and Galaxies. Little Button Craft is honored to have her join us as a featured artist! Follow along below to see Desiree’s featured artist takeover:

Hello everyone! I’m Desiree Moore of @girls.and.galaxies and I’m so excited to be this months Featured Artist at Little Button Craft! I paint, you guessed it; girls and galaxies!

I create paintings with either acrylic or watercolor on wood panels and paper and then turn them into prints, vinyl stickers, enamel pins, and keychains! I graduated from Nazareth College in 2015 and work full time as an Instructional Designer. Art is not something that I can just put aside however, so in 2022 I turned my hobby into a business, creating new designs and products and vending at arts and craft shows across the state!

I love to find my people through the art I create.

I was inspired to start creating enamel pins by another LBC artist @shes.tea.and.bees ! To see my art come to life as these shiny metal accessories makes my heart so happy! You can find 3 of my Galaxy Girls as pins at LBC with 2 more in the works! Any guesses witch art will be a pin next?

I was so excited to be invited to make some paintings for a Halloween show last year. This coffin girly is still available and I love her so much. Her hot pink border is everything. Fun fact: she’s actually nearly 4 feet tall! I hope to make a lot more original paintings this year. What canvas shape should I try next?

Welcome to the tiniest glimpse of my studio! I actually have a room that is one-half my office where I work from home designing eLearning and one half my art studio space! I collect art all over my walls and lately I collect suncatchers and anything that would look pretty in my window. Check the tags for all the local artists I’ve collected so far!

This is one of my newest pieces that I havent shown very much yet because I have so many more ideas for other paintings to go along with her. I’m so intrigued by this idea of beautifying all of the things in nature that I find sort of… gross? Mushrooms and anything that triggers trypophobia really. So I want to paint these creepy, weird things that remind you of death and decay and remind the viewer that they also mean regrowth and abundance. Stay tuned for the other pieces I’m excited to paint this year! Do clusters of holes bother you?

It’s my face again! I finished this Astrology Skull project early last year and really fell in love with florals. I turned these watercolor paintings into prints and stickers, and they’re soon to be acrylic keychains! What’s your sign?

I told you I made these babes into stickers! I think my favorite sign I painted is Virgo, it makes sense because my toddler is a Virgo. Runners up are absolutely Leo, Gemini, Aries, and Taurus. I’m a fire sign, how about you? Check out when these were just sketches!

I’m obsessed with stickers tbh. I love that I get to make stickers for you all and keep some for myself because they’re all over my waterbottles, laptop, desk, EVERYWHERE. I might be turning my NASA milf sticker into an enamel pin this year….

My Featured Artist takeover is almost done and I’m so sad to go but so happy that I got to share myself with all of you and with the Rochester community! Thank you to Shelby and everyone at LBC for all the love and support they show me and other Rochester makers. You are amazing!

For my last post I really wanted to show the process of a commission I was so excited to finish last year! I adore the process of collecting imagery and sketching out my ideas before committing the art to its wood canvas. When @celestial_hair_bytiffanymarie wanted to see the art on this Saturn-shaped wood I was so excited for the challenge of making the composition work. Though this piece doesnt lend itself well to a print persay, she is available as a sticker and hopefully an enamel pin this year!

I’m out. Thank you for all the love, I hope to see each and every one of you out and about this year!
