A bit about Rachael, by Rachael:
“Hi! I’m Rachael Gootnick, the artist behind Just Terrific, a small bookbinding studio in Rochester NY. A book lover and crafter my entire life, my true love for bookmaking started at RIT where I studied Printing and Publishing, and specialized in Layout and Book Design. After working in publishing for several years, it wasn’t until I saw a distinct shift in the industry, that I decided to leave my full-time job as a book designer to start my own book making business.
Now my days are filled with working on all types of book projects - my favorite being my signature miniature book jewelry. I also create custom books for special occasions, like weddings, retirements and graduations. In addition to creating books, I specialize in book repairs and restorations, giving me the unique opportunity to prolong the life of many rare and antique books. And when time permits, I enjoy playing with paper to create upcycled book art pieces.
Being a full-time artist is full of challenges, but also full of great rewards. I am fortunate to now be in my 6th year and it wouldn’t be possible without all of the support this wonderful city has shown me. Thank you Rochester!
